The
transfer of digital video to film is not a complicated process
but it's best to know what you are getting into when working
on your project.
Regardless
what the experts say, nothing can ever beat film in it's
look or archival nature. Interestingly alot of filmmakers
are shooting super 8mm or regular anamorphic 8mm, transfering
via telecine to mini dv and tranforming it back to 35mm
or 16mm film for release.
The
image and resolution of super 8mm film or regular 8mm film
image if shot on Kodachrome is technically a better image
or comparable in look to High Definition when transfered
on a good Da Vinci or better telecine system. Digital Image
in Burbank California USA and others can transfer an hours
worth of footage for about 250.00 an hour, with color correction
etc. This approach takes advantage of all the great qualities
of Final Cut Pro Editing but at a cost considerably less
than shooting 16mm or 35mm. We are a strong advocate of
Super 8mm and Regular 8mm film. If you should get in a situation
where you have a longer form project and need advice on
methods to making your film when tranforming back to film,
